Quality health care is
important to the people of Whiteville and Columbus
County. Our hospital, Columbus Regional Healthcare
System is committed to providing our residents with high
quality medical care.
Since its founding in 1935, our hospital has played a vital role
in the community. Starting in just a 12-bed hospital,
its founder, Dr Warren Edwin Miller had the foresight
and compassion for the well being of his fellow
citizens. From those humble beginnings, Columbus
Regional Healthcare System has transitioned into a
154-bed not-for-profit comprehensive community hospital
accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations.
Columbus Regional has grown and expanded to meet the medical needs
of our community. Our highly trained medical staff and
other healthcare professionals represent a range of
specialties and are dedicated to providing them most
advanced care in an atmosphere of concern and
compassion. Our major service areas include, 24-7 Level
III Emergency Care, Family Birthing Center, Complete
line of Diagnostic Imaging including High Speed CT,
Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine and a new Open
MRI. Our surgical services include: orthopaedic,
gynecological, urological, vascular, ear-nose-throat and
ophthalmic surgeries just to name a few. Patients
battling cancer can now receive chemotherapy services
close to home at the Donayre Cancer Care Center located
on the corner of Washington and Franklin Streets. Our
South Columbus Medical Center serves the residents in
the southern part of Columbus County with complete
